Protecting battery connections is as important as protecting the battery itself. When damage occurs to the battery connections, it can cause all sorts of issues. Damage can be physical impact or even corrosion due to exposure. Is there a way to protect your connections? Yes, and it's easier than you think. Marine type battery boots prevent shocks, shorts, and corrosion. This boot is typically used in marine applications to cover secondary power or grounds. Marine type boots offer protection for continuously energized parts. To use, disconnect the point you would like to cover. Next, slide the marine type boot over the existing cable and connection point. After you reconnect the cable, pull the marine type boot into place. Make sure to cover the connection point completely.
