Shielded multiconductor 20 AWG cables are used for a multitude of purposes; things like consumer electronics and industrial process control equipment. They are used in advanced signal transmissions in controlled environments as well. This means that multiconductor cables are used for controlling equipment. By using 20 AWG shielded multiconductor cable, you are given the option of selecting between 2 to 15 conductors.
Why would you use shielded multiconductor 20 AWG cable? In many industrial facilities and other similar environments there is a lot of equipment that create EMI (electromagnetic interference) also called RFI (radio frequency interference). EMI/RFI can seriously reduce the performance of a circuit. In some cases, it can stop the circuit from functioning at all. This is where you would want to use shielded multiconductor 20 AWG cable. The shielding in this cable works in two ways. For starters, the shield can reflect energy. This prevents that energy from interrupting the circuit. Next, the shielding can help to conduct the rest of that energy to the ground. These actions make sure that the EMI/RFI does not reach the conductors.
These cables meet the requirements for UL, CSA, and NEC. Temperatures and voltages may not be the exact same from cable to cable. Call a Pacer expert for specifications on multiconductor cable.
