Shielded multiconductor cables are used for multiple purposes. These include things like consumer electronics and industrial process control equipment. They are also used in advanced signal transmissions in controlled environments. What does all of that mean? Well, it basically means that shielded multiconductor 22 AWG cable is used for controlling equipment. By using 22 AWG shielded multiconductor cable you are given the option of selecting between 2 to 10 conductors.
Why use shielded multiconductor 22 AWG cable? In many industrial environments, there is a lot going on. What I mean is that there is usually a lot of equipment with a multitude of wires in a given facility. This can lead to EMI (electromagnetic interference) often called RFI (radio frequency interference). EMI/RFI can reduce the performance of a circuit. In some cases, it can even stop the circuit from functioning. This is where shielded multiconductor 22 AWG cable comes in. The shielding works in two different ways. First, the shield can actually reflect a lot of energy. This prevents it from interrupting the circuit. Second, the shielding can help to conduct some of that energy to the ground. Both of these actions make sure that the EMI/RFI does not reach the conductors.
These cables meet the current requirements for UL, CSA, and RoHS. Temperatures and voltages may not be the same from cable to cable. Call a Pacer expert for specifications on the cable you need.
